Joseph A. Mannino, MD

Dr. Mannino has a strong research background. During college he attended seminars by doctorates at Pfizer’s main pharmaceutical manufacturing plant and worked as an extern for Pfizer during college breaks. From 1987–1991 he worked in an orthopaedic research laboratory. These projects were on Dupuytren’s Disease, enhancement of neuro-muscular recovery after nerve repair and the pathobiology of tenosynovitis.

His training exposed him to a broad expanse of orthopaedics, as the Stony Brook training program covered three Level I Trauma Centers, including two private hospitals, a VA center, a community hospital and a university hospital. Sports programs from several school districts were covered, as were the NY State Games and other sports events. He now serves as one of the team physicians for the Morrisville State College sports program.

Dr. Mannino was the Administrative Chief Resident his last year of residency. At the conclusion of his orthopaedic residency, he joined Hamilton Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine. The opportunity to work in a high quality practice, as well as live in a family-oriented community, greatly appealed to both Dr. Mannino and his wife.

Born and raised in New York City, he graduated from Regis High School in 1983. He played rugby for over 10 years and still enjoys the game. Dr. Mannino has multiple other hobbies, including cooking, gardening and zymurgy. He is married to Cynthia (nee Brett) from Port Jefferson, NY. They reside in Hamilton with their young daughters, Marilyn and Isabella.
